There’s so many players selling the same thing, it can be incredibly hard to stand out! Many consumers treat these incredibly valuable services like a commodity; something that has little to no differentiation and should be purchased on price alone; leading our industry into a constant race to the bottom…
Yet at the same time, delivering these services can be really costly and laborious – lots of systems, portals and spreadsheets are being used to deliver different parts of the customer lifecycle like selling, provisioning, billing, ticketing, call centres, self service, and many many more, which leads ISPs having to employ more people to spin all the plates and ‘stitch’ everything together…
… which is what makes it tough! With competition fierce, market dynamics squeezing profitability, and a complex environment to manage…
Well… that’s the question we wanted to answer! So.. we did!

We started life as an ISP in south-east Asia – an incredibly tough and challenging market to say the least. We developed our own platform and systems to make our lives and the lives of our customers easier and better. Over the course of around 8 years, we grew to be a significant ISP, serving millions of customers – no mean feat!
We then realised that we weren’t the only ones suffering from these issues. All our competitors were struggling too. What we had created to change our lives and transform the experience we could offer was something that others wanted to hear about.
More recently, in 2025, we launched another ISP in the UK to see if Catena could grow to support the incredibly complex and diverse ecosystem of another very challenging and different market.
You see, that’s what ultimately sets us apart and why we’re different. We are an ISP ourselves. We serve customers everyday and we only want to deliver the best experience we can. Catena is a unified platform for ISPs, built by an ISP.
